Description

Create spooky and fun Spider-Themed Ritz Cracker Sandwiches that are perfect for Halloween parties or as a creative snack. These no-bake sandwiches feature creamy and fruity fillings sandwiched between buttery crackers, topped with pretzel legs and candy eyes to resemble cute little spiders. Customize the fillings with a variety of options for both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 20 round Ritz crackers
  • 1/3 cup cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup blackberry jam or jam of choice
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks, broken in half
  • 20 candy eyes

Optional Variations

  • Ham or turkey slices
  • Cheddar, Colby Jack, or Swiss cheese slices
  • Mayonnaise and/or Dijon mustard
  • Peanut butter or seed butter
  • Preserves or jelly
  • Thinly sliced cucumber
  • Marinara sauce
  • Fresh mozzarella slices
  • Cooked meatballs thinly sliced
  • Cheese Whiz spread
  • Nutella spread
  • Marshmallow fluff
  • Melted butter and seasonings (e.g. poppy seeds, onion flakes, salt, pepper)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Crackers: Lay out the 20 round Ritz crackers on a clean, flat surface to work on.
  2. Spread Fillings: Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on each cracker, then add a layer of blackberry jam or your preferred jam on top of the cream cheese for flavor and moisture.
  3. Assemble Legs: Break pretzel sticks in half to create the spider’s legs. Place 4 pretzel halves on each side of one cracker (8 legs total) over the cream cheese and jam layer, positioning them evenly around the edges.
  4. Create Sandwich: Place another cracker with cream cheese and jam spread on top of the pretzel legs cracker to form a sandwich, gently pressing so the ‘legs’ stick out from the edges.
  5. Add Eyes: Put a small dot of cream cheese on the back of each candy eye, then stick the candy eyes onto the top cracker to create the spider’s eyes, giving it a fun and spooky look.
  6. Serve or Store: Serve immediately as a fun appetizer or snack. Alternatively, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 2 days for best freshness.

Notes

  • Try variations like meat & cheese, peanut butter & jam, cucumber & cream cheese, meatball & mozzarella, cheese whiz, or chocolate marshmallow fillings to customize your Ritz cracker sandwiches.
  • You can warm these sandwiches in the oven briefly to get them golden brown and melty, optionally brushing melted butter and seasoning on top before warming.
  • These sandwiches make perfect festive Halloween snacks or year-round fun treats for lunchboxes and gatherings.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and consume within 2 days.
