- 3 ripe avocados, peeled, seed removed
- 1/2 medium red onion, roughly chopped
- 2 medium jalapeño peppers, roughly chopped
- 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice, about 1 1/2 medium limes
- 3–5 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients: Add avocados, red onion, jalapeños, lime juice, 3 tablespoons of water, garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper into the bowl of a food processor.
- Blend the mixture: Pulse the ingredients together until combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. If necessary, add more water, one tablespoon at a time, to achieve the desired consistency.
- Add cilantro: Stir in the fresh chopped cilantro for an added burst of flavor.
- Serve: Enjoy the dip with tortilla chips, as a topping for tacos, or alongside nachos.
Notes
- The dip can be adjusted to your preferred level of spiciness by adding or reducing the number of jalapeño peppers.
- For a chunkier dip, pulse less and leave some texture in the mixture.
- To prevent the avocado from browning, serve the dip immediately or store with plastic wrap pressed tightly against the surface to minimize air exposure.
