Description

Magic Six Layer Bars are a delightfully simple and delicious treat made with just six ingredients. Featuring a crunchy graham cracker crust layered with sweet coconut, rich chocolate chips, crunchy pecans, and luscious sweetened condensed milk, these bars bake up golden and gooey, perfect for potlucks, cookie platters, or anytime you want a quick homemade dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 1½ cups (150g) graham cracker crumbs (10-10½ sheets)
  • 1 stick (113g/8 tablespoons) butter, melted

Layers

  • 1 cup (86g) shredded sweetened coconut
  • 1 (12-ounce) package (2 cups/340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (114g) chopped pecans (or walnuts, or a mix)
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (regular, not low-fat or fat-free)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 350℉ (175℃). Spray or grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of bars.
  2. Make the Graham Cracker Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Stir with a fork until the mixture holds together when squeezed. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press firmly into an even layer using your fingers or the bottom of a measuring cup.
  3. Add the Layers: Evenly sprinkle the shredded sweetened coconut over the crust layer. Follow by spreading the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly, then the chopped pecans. Finally, pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top layer without stirring, and gently spread with a rubber spatula to cover all layers evenly.
  4. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 26 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the top is lightly browned.
  5. Cool and Serve: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely to set. Optionally, sprinkle flaky sea salt on top for a salty-sweet finish. Once cooled, remove from the pan (using parchment overhang if lined), cut into 24 bars, and enjoy.
  6. Storage: Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for longer freshness. These bars also freeze well for extended storage.

Notes

  • This recipe combines sweet, salty, crunchy, and creamy textures quickly over a crisp graham cracker crust for an irresistible treat.
  • Perfect for potlucks, cookie platters, or sharing with friends.
  • For a more salty-sweet profile, sprinkle flaky sea salt on top after baking.
  • Can substitute pecans with walnuts or a mix of nuts according to preference.
