Scale
Ingredients
- 6 hot dogs
- 1 package crescent roll dough (usually contains 8 rolls)
- Candy eyes (12 pieces)
- Ketchup or mustard (for attaching eyes and optional decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking your mummy dogs.
- Prepare Dough: Open the crescent roll dough package and unroll the dough onto a flat surface. Press along the perforations to seal the dough together into one large sheet to prevent tearing when cutting strips.
- Cut Dough Strips: Using a knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough into thin strips about 1/4 inch wide. These strips will serve as the mummy bandages.
- Wrap Hot Dogs: Take each hot dog and stretch the dough strips slightly. Wrap the strips around each hot dog in overlapping and crisscrossing patterns, leaving gaps so the hot dog peeks through like mummy bandages.
- Bake: Place the wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet lined with parchment or a nonstick surface. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
- Add Eyes: Remove the mummy dogs from the oven and let them cool slightly. Use a small dot of ketchup or mustard on the back of each candy eye and stick two eyes onto each mummy hot dog for a fun decorative effect.
Notes
- If candy eyes are unavailable, you can create eyes by adding small dots of ketchup or mustard directly onto the mummy dogs where the eyes would be.
- Stretching the dough strips helps give a more natural mummy bandage look with some overlap.
- Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
