Instructions
- Activate Yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, honey, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Make the Dough: Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and all the remaining dough ingredients to the yeast mixture. Mix well until combined. The dough will be thick and sticky.
- Rest the Dough: Form the dough into a ball-like shape in the bowl. Drizzle with the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Cover the bowl with a tea towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for 45-90 minutes.
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 450°F. Lightly oil a cookie sheet or pizza pan.
- Shape the Crust: Roll out the dough onto the prepared pan and gently press it into a heart shape. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Make Garlic Oil: In a microwave-safe dish, combine butter, olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and salt. Microwave for 10 seconds or until melted. Stir to combine.
- Brush the Crust: Brush the garlic oil mixture over the entire crust, including the edges.
- Par-bake the Crust: Bake the crust for 7-10 minutes, or until it’s just set and no longer doughy.
- Add Toppings: Remove the crust from the oven and add your favorite pizza toppings.
- Increase Heat and Bake: Turn the oven up to 500°F. Bake the pizza for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the toppings are golden.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh basil.
