Ingredients
Scale
For the Sandwich
- 6 English muffins, sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter, plus more for buttering the muffins
- 6 slices Canadian bacon
- 6 slices American cheese
- 6 eggs
- Cooking spray
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Toast the English Muffins
Split the English muffins in half and toast them to your desired level of crispness. Once toasted, spread butter on each half to enhance the flavor. - Cook the Canadian Bacon
Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once melted, add the Canadian bacon slices and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until slightly crisp. Remove from the pan and set them aside on a plate. - Prepare the Eggs
Place a mason jar lid or a metal ring mold into the skillet and spray it with cooking spray. Crack one egg into the center of the ring. Use a fork to gently break the yolk. Season with salt. - Steam the Eggs
Pour 1/4 cup of water into the skillet around the ring, cover the skillet with a lid, and allow the egg to cook for about 1 minute until it’s completely set. Carefully remove the ring and repeat this process for the remaining eggs. - Assemble the Sandwich
Place a slice of American cheese on the bottom half of each toasted English muffin. Add the cooked egg on top of the cheese, followed by a slice of Canadian bacon. Place the top half of the English muffin to complete the sandwich. - Serve and Enjoy
Serve the homemade Egg McMuffins immediately, or store them for later use. They are perfect freshly made or reheated on busy mornings!
Notes
- Make sure to break the egg yolk when cooking to prevent it from bursting when you bite into the sandwich.
- Use circular Canadian bacon, as it fits perfectly onto the English muffins. Since it’s pre-cooked, you only need to heat and crisp it slightly.
- Feel free to tweak this recipe to suit your preferences—add extra cheese, swap Canadian bacon for another protein, or go vegetarian!
- Storage Tip: Wrap tightly and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Alternatively, freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave or oven as needed.
