Ground Beef Patties
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Grilled Cheese Buns
- 4 hamburger buns
- 8 slices American cheese
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick / 57 g) unsalted butter, softened
Optional Toppings
- Sliced tomatoes
- Sliced pickles
- Fry sauce
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Sliced red onion
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, hamburger seasoning, seasoned salt, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined.
- Shape the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions (4 ounces each). Shape each portion into a loose ball. Place a ball on a sheet of parchment paper, cover with a second sheet of parchment paper, and press into a thin, round patty about 5 inches in diameter. Repeat for all portions.
- Cook the Patties: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Work in batches if necessary based on skillet size.
- Prepare the Grilled Cheese Buns: Spread ½ tablespoon of butter on the inside of each hamburger bun half (8 halves total). Place four buttered halves, cut side down, into a separate skillet over medium heat. Top each with 2 slices of American cheese, then cover with the remaining buns, buttered side up. Press lightly to flatten slightly. Cook until golden brown and toasted on one side, then flip to cook the opposite side.
- Assemble the Burgers: Start with one grilled cheese bun as the base. Place a cooked hamburger patty on top, followed by desired toppings such as sliced tomatoes, pickles, fry sauce, or ketchup. Add a second hamburger patty, then top with another grilled cheese bun. Repeat for the second sandwich. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure to not overmix the ground beef to keep the patties tender.
- You can customize the toppings to suit your taste preferences.
- If making more than 2 servings, you can prepare patties and buns in batches.
- Grilling the buns lightly until golden brown ensures a crispy texture.
- The fry sauce adds a great flavor complement to the burger.
