Ingredients
Scale
Gingerbread Base
- 450 g ginger cake
- 250 g gingerbread men biscuits
Custard
- 500 g vanilla custard
Whipped Cream
- 600 ml double cream
- 75 g icing sugar
- 1 tsp ground ginger
Toppings
- 350 g caramel
- Sprinkles
Instructions
- Prep Ingredients: Slice the ginger cake into 1-2 cm thin slices. In a mixing bowl, whip the double cream with icing sugar and ground ginger until soft peaks form. Gather the vanilla custard, caramel, sprinkles, and gingerbread men biscuits for layering.
- First Layer: Place half of the ginger cake slices evenly at the bottom of your trifle bowl. This will form a sturdy base for the dessert.
- Arrange Biscuits: Press half of the gingerbread men biscuits gently around the edge of the trifle bowl, creating a decorative circle that also adds texture and flavor.
- Layer Custard and Cream: Spoon half of the vanilla custard over the ginger cake and biscuits, smoothing it out gently. Then add half of the ginger-spiced whipped cream on top of the custard layer.
- Add Caramel: Drizzle half of the caramel over the cream layer evenly, adding a sweet, rich flavor to the trifle.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process with the remaining ginger cake slices, gingerbread biscuits arranged around the edge, custard, whipped cream, and caramel, building the trifle to the top of the bowl.
- Decorate: Finely crumble some gingerbread men biscuits and sprinkle them over the top along with colorful sprinkles to add festive flair and extra crunch.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld and the dessert set before serving.
