Description

This Garlic Lover’s Garlic Bread with Parmesan Cheese & Fresh Herbs is an irresistible, flavorful twist on classic garlic bread. Made with three types of garlic—roasted, fresh, and garlic powder—this recipe delivers an intense garlic flavor balanced by creamy butter, nutty Parmesan, and fragrant fresh herbs. Perfectly toasted to a golden crisp, it’s an ideal accompaniment to pasta, soups, or salads.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 1 loaf Italian or French bread (approx. 16 ounces), sliced in half lengthwise

Roasted Garlic

  • 1 head garlic
  • 1-2 teaspoons olive oil

Garlic Herb Butter

  • ½ cup very soft unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 8 cloves garlic, finely chopped or grated
  • ½ cup finely grated parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup finely chopped leafy fresh herbs (e.g. basil, parsley, oregano)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • kosher salt, to season
  • ground black pepper, to season

Instructions

  1. Preheat and roast garlic: Preheat the oven to 350°F, positioning a rack in the center. Peel excess paper from the garlic head, slice off the top to expose the cloves, drizzle lightly with olive oil, then wrap in foil. Place on a baking sheet and roast for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until fragrant and golden. Remove and cool.
  2. Prepare garlic herb butter: In a medium bowl, combine softened butter, finely chopped fresh garlic cloves, grated Parmesan cheese, fresh herbs, garlic powder, and dried Italian seasoning. Season with kosher salt and black pepper to taste. Squeeze the cooled roasted garlic cloves out of the head and mix them thoroughly into the butter mixture until well blended.
  3. Assemble the bread: Generously spread the prepared garlic herb butter over the cut sides of the halved loaf of bread.
  4. Bake the garlic bread: Place the buttered bread halves on a large baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes. For extra crispiness, turn on the broiler and broil on the center rack for 2 to 3 minutes until the bread is golden and crisp. Remove from the oven.
  5. Serve: Transfer the garlic bread to a cutting board and slice into individual pieces using a serrated knife. Serve immediately alongside pasta, soups, or salads for a delicious garlicky accompaniment.

Notes

  • This garlic bread recipe uses a triple garlic approach—roasted, fresh, and powdered—to maximize garlic flavor.
  • The garlic herb butter includes fresh herbs and Parmesan cheese for extra depth and richness.
  • Baking followed by optional broiling ensures perfectly toasted and crispy garlic bread.
  • Pairs beautifully with a variety of main dishes, including pastas, soups, and salads.
  • Use a serrated knife to slice the bread cleanly without crushing it.
