Description

This festive Fruit Christmas Tree is a creative and healthy holiday centerpiece crafted from a colorful assortment of fresh fruits. Using pineapple as the base, it features pears, strawberries, kiwi stars, grapes, clementines, blackberries, blueberries, and fresh mint, assembled with toothpicks and skewers into a charming, edible decoration perfect for holiday parties or a fun family treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit Base

  • 1 small or medium pineapple
  • 1 pear

Fruit Decorations

  • Fresh blackberries (small pack)
  • Fresh strawberries (small pack – kept whole or cut into halves or fourths depending on size)
  • 3 kiwi (cut into small stars with cookie cutter)
  • 3 fresh clementines (peeled and segmented)
  • Green grapes (small pack)
  • Fresh blueberries (small pack)
  • Fresh mint leaves

Assembly Tools

  • Toothpicks
  • Large skewer

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit: Wash and pat dry all the fruits thoroughly with paper towels to remove moisture and prevent slipping during assembly.
  2. Prepare the Pineapple Base: Cut off the very top and bottom of the pineapple. Then slice off the top slice to use for the star decoration by cutting a star shape with a cookie cutter. Shape the pineapple base into a nice cone by trimming around the sides.
  3. Prepare the Pear Trunk: Cut the bottom of the pear so it can stand upright. Attach the pear to the top of the pineapple base using a large skewer for stability.
  4. Attach the Star Topper: Insert a toothpick into the top of the pear and then slide the pineapple star onto the toothpick, securing it firmly at the top of the tree.
  5. Create Additional Stars: Using the leftover pineapple cut-offs, use the star cookie cutter to cut out small stars for decoration.
  6. Begin Decorating with Large Fruits: Start by attaching larger pieces such as strawberries, clementine segments, and green grapes to the pineapple base using toothpicks. Space them evenly around the tree.
  7. Fill in the Gaps: Add smaller fruits like blackberries, blueberries, and the pineapple and kiwi stars to fill in empty spaces and create a balanced look.
  8. Add Mint Garnish: Place fresh mint leaves intermittently around the tree to add color contrast and to cover any exposed pineapple base.
  9. Finishing Touches: Ensure the pineapple star is securely positioned on top. Make any final adjustments to the fruit placements for visual appeal.
  10. Storage: If there is any leftover fruit after serving, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
