Ingredients

Units Scale

Dough:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons instant or active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 to 2 1/4 cups all-purpose or bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or olive oil

Toppings:

  • 1 tablespoon garlic herb seasoning
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and place a baking stone on a rack in the lower third of the oven.
  2. Mix the dough: Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Add salt and flour to form a dough. Knead the dough and let it rise.
  3. Prepare the pan: Grease a sheet pan and press the dough into a rectangle on it.
  4. Add toppings: Brush the dough with butter, sprinkle with garlic herb seasoning, then add mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake: Bake the breadsticks for 15-17 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Cut the breadsticks and enjoy!

Notes

  • Garlic Herb Seasoning: If you don’t have store-bought seasoning, you can make your own blend with kosher salt, dried basil, dried oregano, garlic powder, and dried thyme.
  • Proofing the Yeast: While not necessary, proofing the yeast can help the dough rise better due to its quick rising time.
