Description

This comforting Crock Pot Beef and Gravy recipe features tender ground beef patties simmered in a rich onion and cream of chicken soup-based gravy. Perfectly cooked in a slow cooker, it makes an easy and hearty main dish, ideal for serving over mashed potatoes or rice.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Seasoning

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 ounce packet of onion soup and dip mix

Gravy and Broth

  • 0.87 ounce packet of brown gravy mix
  • 8 ounces beef or chicken broth

Vegetables

  • 1 small white onion, sliced

Soups

  • 2 – 10.5 ounce cans of condensed cream of chicken soup

Optional

  • Mashed potatoes or rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the onions: Slice the small white onion and add the slices to the bottom of the slow cooker to create a flavorful base for the dish.
  2. Form beef patties: In a bowl, combine the ground beef with the onion soup and dip mix thoroughly. Shape the mixture into four to six evenly sized patties.
  3. Assemble in the slow cooker: Place the beef patties on top of the sliced onions in the Crock Pot. Evenly sprinkle the brown gravy mix over the patties.
  4. Add broth and soups: Pour 8 ounces of beef or chicken broth over the meat and gravy mix. Then, spread the condensed cream of chicken soup over the patties for a creamy gravy base.
  5. Cook the beef: Cover with the lid and cook on high for 5 hours or on low for 8 hours until the beef is tender and cooked through, and the gravy is thickened.
  6. Finishing touches: Before serving, skim off any excess grease from the surface using a turkey baster if desired. Stir everything gently to combine flavors.
  7. Serve: Spoon the beef and gravy over cooked mashed potatoes or rice for a hearty and satisfying meal.
