Ingredients
Scale
Dough and Seasoning
- 13.8 ounce can pizza dough
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Fillings and Toppings
- 8 oz pepperoni slices
- 1 1/2 cups (170g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
Serving
- Marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to fully preheat while you prepare the rolls.
- Roll Out Dough: Place the pizza dough on a piece of parchment paper and roll it into a roughly 10×15 inch rectangle to create the base for the rolls.
- Prepare Seasoned Butter: In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Brush half of this mixture evenly over the surface of the rolled out pizza dough. Keep the remaining butter mixture for later.
- Add Fillings: Layer the pepperoni slices evenly over the buttered dough, slightly overlapping them. Then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the pepperoni.
- Roll the Dough: Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log shape, making sure the seam is on the bottom to seal it properly. Transfer the log on the parchment paper onto a baking sheet.
- Brush with Egg Wash: Whisk the egg in a small bowl, then generously brush it over the top and sides of the dough log to help it brown beautifully during baking.
- Bake Initial Phase: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the roll for 15-20 minutes until the dough is set and starting to turn golden.
- Brush Remaining Butter: Warm the reserved butter mixture if needed, then brush it over the roll to enhance flavor and browning. Continue baking for an additional 5-10 minutes until the roll is golden brown and heated through.
- Add Parmesan and Cool: Remove the roll from the oven, sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese evenly over the top, and allow it to cool for 10 minutes to set.
- Slice and Serve: Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into approximately 1-inch thick slices and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes

- The egg wash helps achieve a shiny, appetizing golden crust.
- Letting the rolls cool slightly before slicing helps prevent the cheese from oozing out too much.
- Serve with warm marinara sauce for a delicious dipping experience.
