Description

A warm and comforting Berry Delicious Oatmeal recipe made with wholesome oats, your choice of milk, and sweetened naturally with honey or syrup. Perfect for a nutritious breakfast, this easy-to-make oatmeal is topped with fresh or frozen berries for a burst of fruity flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquid Ingredients

  • 1 Cup water
  • 1 Cup milk (almond, rice, soy, or cow’s milk)
  • 1 tablespoon honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Old Fashioned Oats (Five Minute Oats)

Fruit Toppings

  • 1/2 Cup blueberries, blackberries, and/or raspberries (fresh or frozen)

Instructions

  1. Bring to a Boil: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water and 1 cup milk. Heat over medium-high heat until the mixture starts boiling.
  2. Cook Oats: Stir in 1 cup Old Fashioned Oats, then reduce the heat to low to medium to simmer. Stir occasionally and cook for 5 to 7 minutes until the oats become thick and creamy.
  3. Add Sweetener and Berries: Mix in your choice of 1 tablespoon honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup. Then add 1/2 cup of blueberries, blackberries, or raspberries. Continue cooking for about 1 minute more until the berries are warmed through and begin to burst.
  4. Serve Warm: Remove from heat and serve immediately. Note that if serving to a baby under one year, do not add honey as it is unsafe for infants.

Notes

  • If using frozen berries, they help cool the oatmeal faster, making it safer for children to eat.
  • Honey should not be given to babies under 1 year old.
  • Use your preferred type of milk to fit dietary needs or taste preferences.
  • Stirring occasionally during cooking prevents oats from sticking to the pan.
