Ingredients
Scale
Bread Bowl
- 1 round loaf sourdough bread
Cheese and Toppings
- 1 (8-ounce) wheel of brie cheese
- 1/2 cup fig preserves
- Fresh figs (for garnish)
- Rosemary sprigs (for garnish)
- Olive oil (for brushing bread)
Instructions
- Prepare the bread bowl: Place the brie wheel on top of the sourdough loaf and use a sharp knife to trace a circle around it on the bread surface. Cut into the bread and scoop out enough from inside the circle to fit the brie snugly.
- Score the bread crust: Make 1-inch deep slices around the cut circle, without cutting all the way through the loaf. Then brush the exposed bread crust with olive oil to add crispness during cooking.
- Prepare the brie: On a flat surface, remove the outer rind from the top of the brie wheel carefully and discard it, allowing the preserves to meld directly with the cheese.
- Fill the bread bowl: Place the brie cheese into the hollowed section of the bread bowl and spread the fig preserves evenly over the top of the brie.
- Preheat the air fryer: Line the bottom of the air fryer basket with parchment paper or aluminum foil and preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Air fry the bread bowl: Set the filled bread bowl in the center of the air fryer basket. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the bread crust turns golden and toasted and the brie has melted to a creamy consistency.
- Serve: Carefully remove the bread bowl from the air fryer, transfer it to a serving plate, and garnish with fresh figs and rosemary sprigs. Serve warm to enjoy the soft melted brie and toasted bread.
Notes
- This air fryer baked brie in a bread bowl is perfect for holiday entertaining and a crowd-pleaser that also frees up oven space during busy meals.
- Using parchment paper or foil in the air fryer makes cleanup easier and prevents sticking.
- Be careful when removing the rind; if preferred, you can keep the rind for a slightly firmer texture.
- Let the bread bowl cool for a few minutes before serving to avoid burning.
