Ingredients
Scale
For the fried egg whites:
- 6 large hard boiled eggs, cold
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 2 large raw eggs
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the filling:
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon dill pickle juice
- 1 teaspoon minced chives
- Dash of Tabasco sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Smoked paprika for sprinkling on top
Instructions
- Prepare the eggs: Slice the hard boiled eggs in half lengthwise and carefully remove the yolks, setting them aside in a small bowl for the filling.
- Set up dredging stations: In one shallow dish, combine the flour and seasoned salt. In a second shallow dish, whisk the 2 raw eggs. In a third shallow dish, mix the panko bread crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
- Coat the egg whites: Dip each egg white half sequentially into the flour mixture, then into the whisked eggs, and finally into the panko mixture, ensuring each egg white is thoroughly coated at each step.
- Air fry the egg whites: Spray the air fryer basket with oil spray. Arrange the coated egg whites cut side down in the basket. Spritz the tops with oil spray and air fry at 400°F (204°C) for 3 minutes. Then, carefully flip the egg whites, spray with oil again, and air fry them for an additional 3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Prepare the filling: While the egg whites cook, mash the reserved yolks in their bowl. Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, dill pickle juice, minced chives, and a dash of Tabasco sauce. Mix until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Fill the egg whites: Once the fried egg whites are done and slightly cooled, spoon or pipe the yolk filling into the centers of each egg white half.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle the filled deviled eggs with smoked paprika and serve immediately to enjoy the crispy texture.
Notes
- Start with cold hard boiled eggs for the best coating and frying results.
- You can prepare the filling ahead of time and store the egg whites in the refrigerator until ready to air fry and serve.
- These deviled eggs are best enjoyed immediately after frying to maintain their crispiness.
- Feel free to customize the yolk filling with your own favorite deviled egg recipe; the frying method for the whites remains the same.
