Instructions
- Mix the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the ground chicken, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, beaten egg, liquid smoke, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, mustard, and milk. Use your hands to combine thoroughly until the mixture is evenly blended.
- Shape the Patties: Split the mixture into 4 equal portions, approximately 150g each. Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten into a patty shape. Lightly press a thumb into the center of each patty to create a small indentation (do not press all the way through).
- Coat the Patties: Place the remaining 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs into a shallow dish. Coat each patty by rolling it in the breadcrumbs to cover all sides.
- Cook in Air Fryer: Place the patties in the air fryer basket. Spray the tops with olive oil spray or avocado spray. Cook at 390°F (200°C) for 5 minutes. Flip the patties, spray the tops again, and cook for an additional 4 minutes. Remove from the air fryer once fully cooked and golden brown.
- Serve: Serve the chicken patties on buns with lettuce, tomato, onion, and your favorite burger toppings and sauces for a delicious meal.
Notes
- Meat should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F for safety.
- To lower the carbohydrate content, omit the crispy coating, though it adds great flavor and texture, and is highly recommended.
- You can modify the size of the patties to make small rounds for homemade chicken nuggets or slider buns.
- For an ultimate flavor experience, top with cottage cheese ranch and homemade BBQ sauce.
